OVERVIEW
Improving the management of educational services
In our determination to reduce the cost of plastic cards and the time it takes to actually deliver them to every student, we designed and developed a virtual solution: the Multifunction Anti-Counterfeit Virtual Student Card (CEMAC). CEMAC has been developed and tested and can be deployed within 2 to 4 weeks, subject to the development of a data migration/synchronization interface. CEMAC offers several interfaces: CEMAC mobile, web and API.
CEMAC already includes the following modules: Virtual student card, Cafeteria ticket management, Exam room entry management, Library book loan management (in development).

Beyond the physical appearance, which may stay the same throughout the academic year, the virtual card’s QR code used for (scannable) verification is (re)generated every time the student opens the app.
Instant QR code regeneration, while the maximum security measure, does have a downside: it puts servers and internet connectivity under heavy strain. To address this, some deployments give the whole virtual card a lifespan of roughly 4 renewable weeks. That decision naturally rests with the client.
A dynamic QR code : the code is made up of a number of static elements that barely change throughout the academic year, such as the ID, the registration number, etc. To these is added an element that is both important and dynamic: the timestamp. In short, the exact date and time. Expressed in milliseconds, this value is highly reliable, especially since it is renewed every time the student accesses their virtual card. This guarantees the QR code’s uniqueness, and therefore its tamper-resistance.
